Database Administrator (Contract)
Location: Prague, Czech Republic Country: Czech Republic Rate: Circa €300 + per day (Negotiable as the rate is not set in stone)

Tasks/responsibilities
- Creating, tuning, and managing databases running on a variety of engines (MySQL, MariaDB, PSSQL)
- Working within the Engineering team to create and improve automation processes with Ansible for database administration.
- Ensuring secure, performant, and resilient database systems for 24/7 productive ecosystems.
- Designing migration strategies for databases for critical tech migration and datacenter migration projects (LogShipping, Replication, Failover, Clustering, Active/Active etc.)
- Daily operation of mission critical database infrastructure
- Implementing security baselines and proactively looking to strengthen security posture on database systems.
- Proposing new methods for operations whilst demonstrating new technological advancements and their benefits
- Collaborating with technical teams on delivery chain(eg, development, application operations, networks, datacenter, san, global security)
- Automating infrastructure delivery using industry standard tools
- Creation of procedural documentation (Operational handbook)
- Active participation in agile team ceremonies
- Participation in On-Call rotation
Minimum Qualifications/required skills
- 5+ years of experience in designing and administering MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL database engines for mission critical environments including HA and DR aspects and troubleshooting.
- 3+ years of experience in Linux system administration including LVM, IAM, RBAC.
- A history of success collaborating with operations teams, network engineers, and developers
- 5+ years of experience with automating DBA tasks (preferably via Ansible)
- Cohesive and clear active communication skills
Nice to Have Qualifications
- History of success in datacenter or technology migration projects
- Substantial experience with Everything as Code approach
- Profound architectural understanding on database design in mission critical and regulated environments
- Familiarity with virtual and bare metal, self-hosted Linux ecosystems
- Familiarity with the containerization concept (K8S is a plus)
- Hands-on experience with monitoring/logging/alerting for databases.
- Familiarity with SAN/NAS/DAS/S3 storage systems
- Work experience with Agile frameworks (KanBan/Scrum)
